Water Walk:
Mt. Bethel Elementary Mural

In Spring 2026, students at Mt. Bethel Elementary brought their vision of global connection to life through a collaborative mural project designed to celebrate water as a valuable, life-giving resource.

Over seven days, 900+ students participated in the creation of this colorful, large-scale exterior mural, spanning 2400 square feet and featuring 8 vibrant colors. The design process was shaped through collaborative planning sessions with 45 students ensuring the final artwork authentically reflected the voices and experiences of the community.

The completed mural tells a story of water as a valuable resource and the disparities of the resource globally and regionally. This mural is a beautiful complement to the school’s annual “Walk for Water.” Throughout the project, participants engaged in facilitated conversations about using art as a tool for reflection, connection, and storytelling.

This project transformed a shared space into a visible reflection of community voice and collective pride. Participants left their mark not only on the mural, but on the shared culture of Mt. Bethel Elementary—creating a lasting visual reminder of the power of the arts.

Special thanks to Mt. Bethel’s Foundation for making this project possible.
