Pass it on projects like these very special roses (created by @contemplativecrafting - check our story for more details) and activities rooted in gratitude are some of our very favorites. They provide opportunity to think about the people and things that make your life good in both big and small ways and encourage thankfulness and empathy for people you might not even know. It was a moment that was a dream for me — to teach and to share the therapeutic power of the arts. There’s much to learn about presentation-giving but I’m hoping this is only the beginning.

Take a field trip with us and get ready to get crafty! We’re hosting the September@atlanta_cm Field Trip to @katesclub on Thursday, sept 5th from 6:30-8:30. We’ll be making gratitude journals and thinking about how we can cultivate more creativity and gratitude in our lives. Space is limited so check out the link in bio to register!
(See last post) And here is what they were making! Kids and families who are part of the foster care system will create their own clay fish like this on Sept 7th. They’ll be glazed and kiln fired and will create a collective art installation at the newly renovated Cobb County Department is Child and Family Services building- a school of fish, swimming together, supporting each other even when it feels like you’re about to get swallowed up. The kids will learn some new skills- how to pinch and score the clay so the shape stays strong and the fins adhere. Maybe they’ll even get to use a medium they haven’t had the opportunity to create with before. But it’s always our goal at Paint Love that the kids we serve will also take away something deeper... While we create, we will talk about all the ways their individual strengths and unique efforts contribute to their school of fish (ie: their community - which could be their family, their school, the foster care community), as well as challenge them to think about what strength and goodness they receive from a community can be a nuanced and challenging one to be a part of. Every time they enter those doors, they and every other kid will be reminded they are part of a community of people who care and are there to help and advocate for them and love them. Because they aren’t ever swimming alone. I’m learning that everything feels really big and it’s okay to feel lost and swallowed up by all of these huge, amazing opportunities, especially if you know you’re not swimming alone. ❤️
