With the mission of empowering kids and teens after the death of a parent or sibling, Kate’s Club offers top quality social and therapeutic programming designed specifically for grieving children and their families. Kate’s Club has developed therapeutic programming to help children and teens establish healthy support systems and develop the necessary skills to cope effectively with their grief. Kate’s Club provides support services for children 5 to 18 years who have experienced the death of a parent, sibling, or primary caregiver. They work using a therapeutic, recreational, and social support model.
There will be approximately 20‑30 students attending each project. They are open to project ideas, but each project should support the mission of Kate’s Club and pair with that month’s theme (see individual projects on the calendar for theme info). Projects must also fit within one or more of the Paint Love themes: A) Loving/respecting yourself, B) Loving/respecting others, C) Seeking and strengthening positive relationships, and D) Investing in your community.
- All volunteers must be 21 years or older (18 in limited circumstances) and must have a background check on file with Paint Love.
- Volunteers must clear any photos they take during the event with KC staff to make sure all children have a media release.
- Volunteers may not have any social media contact directly with children.
